Welcome to Elevate Jamaica.  My name is April Phinney, Founder and Executive Director of Elevate Jamaica, a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer organization.  From Denver, Colorado my background is in both Education and Volunteer Management.  Twenty five years ago I fell in love with Jamaica and never imagined I would someday have the opportunity to create an organization dedicated to supporting the wonderful people and communities there. From the very first visit, Jamaica has held a special place in my heart which has drawn me back often to travel and volunteer. Between the natural beauty of the island and the vibrant culture, it is easy to find joy in Jamaica, but it has always been the creative, hardworking people and their contagious positivity that inspired me and truly made me fall in love.
